Today is the State of the Union Address. President Trump has already indicated that it will be a lengthy speech, while Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has said it will convey a clear tone of optimism and confidence about the country’s direction.

In just one year, President Trump has achieved what many considered unthinkable, both internationally and on the domestic front. Contrary to the misguided forecasts of “experts” who predicted weak, or at best mediocre, economic results, the indicators that have emerged (energy, inflation, investment) tell a different story. The left’s propaganda machine has worked aggressively to frame the cost of living as the central issue. And it is true: the cost of living remains high. The key word is “remains,” since it was inherited from the Biden administration, but it is now declining under the Trump administration.

When President Trump took office a year ago, he inherited a battered economy: high inflation, soaring energy prices, a student debt crisis, hundreds of thousands of people entering the United States illegally demanding public support, and uncontrolled spending financing causes across the globe.

Trump inherited a high cost of living. Yet in just one year, he has reduced key costs such as energy, driven a sustained decline in inflation, and attracted massive investment. All of this has occurred amid a tariff confrontation rooted in geopolitical strategy. A policy of this magnitude can produce short-term effects, but the long-term cost would be far greater if the United States were to fall under the influence of Chinese power and narco-terrorism: strategic partners in weakening the West.

President Trump’s agenda is working. The Democratic Party continues to cling to the cost-of-living argument (an issue of their own making) because it is the only line of attack they have left, even if it requires distortion. They are fragmented and divided, unable to offer a credible alternative to the effectiveness of the current administration. At the same time, they watch with concern as their global allies lose ground on multiple fronts.

That fragmentation will be visible during the State of the Union itself. Some Democratic members of Congress will not attend. Others will stage parallel events, an approach they borrowed from the Turning Point USA initiative at the Super Bowl show. And some will attend with guests they present as “victims” of immigration enforcement. There is little beyond that.

All signs point to a major address. A speech that must be studied and defended by lawmakers, activists, and patriots who want to see the United States fully reclaim its identity and strength, especially as the next major challenge approaches: the midterm elections. The president is, and will remain, the central figure of the campaign, even if he is not yet being matched with the forcefulness the moment demands by some of his political allies.

There will be guests from both parties, powerful personal stories, as is tradition in an address delivered before a joint session of Congress, and moments of high symbolism. This speech also comes on the eve of the 250th anniversary of American independence, giving it added historical weight. It will be a night where concrete data is set against ideologically driven narratives. And it will undoubtedly be a long address, delivered in Trump’s unmistakable style: direct, combative, engaging, and packed with arguments to dismantle propaganda that too often finds amplification -and funding- from hostile foreign interests.
